Dimapur, May 21 : Along with the rest of the country, Nagaland observed Anti-Terrorism Day at Nagaland Civil Secretariat conference hall, Kohima, on May 21 with renewed pledge to fight against terrorism.
Chairing the programme, State Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar said the country today has become much more united in preventing terrorist and urged the civil society to combat terrorist in order to prevail peace in the country. He also said that by observing the day, the citizen would be renewed towards self dedication to fight against terrorism.
The Chief Secretary administered the pledge to the gathering. The pledge read as follows: “We, the people of India, having, abiding faith in our country’s tradition of non -violence and tolerance, hereby solemnly affirm to oppose with our strength, all forms of terrorism and violence. We Pledge to uphold and promote peace, social harmony, and, and understanding among all fellow human beings and fight the forces of disruption threatening human lives and values.”
In separate programme, Anti-Terrorism Day was also observed in the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, where the Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rovilatuo Mor, read out the Office Memorandum issued by the Office of Chief Secretary of Nagaland in regard to the observance of Anti-Terrorism day in a befitting manner across the State.
Addressing the occasion, DC said the day was observed to demonstrate and rededicate oneself in order to take all preventive measures and positive steps to reduce the violence activities among all sections of people particularly by the youth. He, therefore, urged the participants to make concerted efforts in guiding the youth and also to abstain from any undesirable activities and action, which affects the people, society and nation as a whole.
As part of the observance, the DC administered the pledge where the ADC Kohima Lithrongla Tongpi, ADC Tseminyu Vikhweno Meratsu, along with other officials and staff of the Deputy Commissioner’s office took the pledge.
