Dimapur, May 7 (EMN): In order to uplift the economy of rural people, Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) has observed the Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan (village self governance campaign) and Aajee Vika Evan Kaushal Vikas Diwas (Livelihoods and skill development meet) across the state on May 5.
In Sanis under Wokha district, NSRLM has organised a block level programme on “Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas,” wherein Chibeni Ngullie has highlighted on the various schemes and policies under the programme. She has urged the people to avail the opportunity created by the government to uplift the economic standard of the rural populace.
EAC Lotsu, Wanmei C Phom, who also spoke during the programme, spoke on various schemes and policies introduced by the Government of India with a view to facilitate the rural populace. He has urged the participants particularly the Self Help Groups (SHGs) to increase their activities with an aim to uplift their economic standards.
Progressive farmers, ATMA and SHGs members have expressed gratitude to the department and government for providing assistance to carry out their projects effectively. They have also suggested their fellow workers to take up projects to generate income.
Around 150 SHG members from 21 villages under Sanis block attended the function.
Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas was also observed in Chen town on May 5 organised by Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission and Department of RD. During the programme, unemployed youth were encouraged to link themselves with the programme for a sustainable livelihood.
Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas was observed in Niuland on May 5 in the conference hall of ADC Niuland. Under secretary and nodal officer, Government of India, AK Mishra was an observer to oversee the arrangements and implementation of various schemes of Government of India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mishra stated that Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan is a special intervention by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to oversee proper implementation of various schemes to benefit the people. He has encouraged the women folk to avail the benefit of the schemes.
BDO cum BMM, Nuiland block, Akumenla Aier, in her keynote address, said that the main purpose for organising the event was to approach the villagers and to encourage the SHGs besides enlightening them of their entitlements and benefits. She also stressed on Kaushal Panjee, which is basically for the uplift of unemployed youth in the age group of 18 to 35 years. She called upon the youth to avail the opportunity and upgrade their skills in various sectors including hospitality, woodwork, automobile, customer care executive etc. where GoI is giving the chance for free enrolment.
Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas was also observed in Longleng in the DRDA conference hall with the Deputy Commissioner, Longleng, John Tsulise Sangtam, as the guest of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC has encouraged NRLM team to strife towards achieving its mission. Stressing on gender disparity, the DC has called upon the members to fight against discrimination and stigma in Longleng. He later presented awards to four best SHGs and one VLO for their outstanding performance in the district and state level.
He has congratulated Awangthemla, VLO from Yachem, for being declared as the best performing VLO in the state.
In Phek, Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM) has observed “Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas” on May 5 at DRDA conference Hall, Phek.
Exhorting at the programme, deputy commissioner, Phek, Shanavas C, expressed gratitude towards the mission and the government for providing a platform to uplift the rural poor. He highlighted about various government schemes and poverty alleviation programmes and stressed on the importance of agriculture and its allied activities, which is the main occupation of the rural sector of Nagaland. He mentioned about the need for modern village, food processing units and how to link with markets and other institutions. He said poor connectivity of road is the main challenge for the rural poor.
Speaking at the event, Project Director, DRDA and DMM, NSRLM, Phek, Azenuo Pienyu, stressed on the aims and objectives of the mission and expressed that the mission witnessed appreciable achievements with dedicated Mission Management Unit of 29 blocks and 9 districts.
She dwelt on the importance of forming SHGs and encouraged them to put more effort and to work in team spirit.
Director of DONER, GoI, Mercy Epao, has highlighted on various government schemes and programmes and individual rights as a citizen of India. She spoke on the various schemes, which the rural areas are availing like electricity, immunisation etc. She also asked the community to avail all the rights and entitlements besides stressing on the bank linkage and further asked them to pay the loan timely for a better economy.
Similarly, NSRLM under RD Block Tseminyu organised a programme on Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan (village self governance campaign) and Aajee Vika Evan Kaushal Vikas Diwas (Livelihoods and skill development meet) at Tseminyu town hall on May 5.
John Wesley Magh, BDO cum BMM, Tseminyu Block, has highlighted on the primary focus of NSRLM for income generating activities of the poorest village people for their livelihood. Wesley John also appreciated the team members/ staff of BMMU RD Block Tseminyu for giving their sincere effort in execution of the mission programmes till date. Wesley also requested the thousand SHGs members gathered to take advantage of the various schemes provided by the government for the better livelihood of the poorest village people.
Neikesanuo, AC BMMU, delivered the status report of NRLM Tseminyu block. She said that there are 26 villages, 124 SHGs, and 7 VLOs.
Neisetuonuo Lucy, accountant cum DEO of BMMU, informed about Deen Dayal Upadhya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana. She has requested the SHGs members to be cooperative with the NRLM initiative programmes.
SBI assistant manager, Tseminyu, K Sawian, while speaking on financial literacy and entitlement, has encouraged the gathering to adopt the habit of saving minimum of 25% from their income.
Officials from social welfare and veterinary and animal husbandry have participated in the programme.
