The State Level Pre-Subroto Tournament 2025 for U-15 Boys and U-17 Girls kicks off at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima, organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sport

KOHIMA — The State Level Pre-Subroto Tournament 2025 for Under-15 Boys and Under-17 Girls is underway at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IGS), Kohima. The tournament is being organised by the Department of Youth Resources and Sports (YRS).
Attending the opening ceremony on Monday as the special guest, K Neibou Sekhose, president of the Nagaland Football Association (NFA) and executive member of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), in his speech extended his appreciation and gratitude to the Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) for starting the tournament at the district level.
He said this is giving opportunities to all the players and thanked the Youth Resources and Sports (YRS) for collaborating with the NFA, which gave the association the privilege to be a part of this grassroots-level and meaningful tournament.
He advised the players to believe in themselves and their abilities, reminding them that every great player starts somewhere, and encouraged them to keep working hard.

Sekhose inspired the players to enjoy the game, learn from their mistakes, and have fun. He said that their dedication and passion would take them far and encouraged them to support their teammates, communicate, and play with heart.
He also exhorted the players not to be afraid to try new things and take risks while advising them to celebrate their successes and learn from their setbacks.
The sports administrator also highlighted the importance of teamwork and encouraged the players to work together towards victory, dream big, and play bigger.
Furthermore, he told the players to give it their all and leave everything on the field, maintaining that a good sportsperson is one who accepts both defeat and victory with a smile and grace and who conducts themselves with dignity on and off the field.
The participating teams for Under-15 Boys are Government High School Bongkolong (Peren); Christian School Molvom, Chümoukedima; SFS Higher Secondary School, Chümoukedima; and Lady Bird School, Mokokchung.
The participating teams for Under-17 Girls are Government High School, Meriema; Christian School Molvom, Chümoukedima; and Government Middle School, L Khel, Kohima.
The tournament will culminate on June 1 with the Advisor for Youth Resources and Sports, S Keoshu Yimkhiung, attending the closing ceremony as the special guest.
