Kohima, Nov 14 (EMN): A state-level painting competition on energy conservation under National Campaign on Energy Conservation 2022 of the Ministry of Power, Government of India was held on Monday at Hotel De Oriental Grand in Kohima.
Principal Director of School Education, Thavaseelan K, who attended the closing ceremony as chief guest, said such competitions will help the children boost their self-confidence and also spur them to take art as a career, while expounding on the potential and possibilities of taking art as a profession.
Further, he also highlighted the importance of energy conservation, adding that unless people make concerted efforts towards conservation of energy, the human race would be looking at a bleak future.
The event was organised by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency; department of Electrical Inspectorate Nagaland Designated Agency; department of School Education and Northeast Electrical Power Corporation Limited- Doyang Hydro Power Station (DHPS).
Chief host of the event, CH R John Zeliang, Head of Power Station (HoPS), NEEPCO Ltd., also addressed the event. While Kevi, an official from department of Electrical Inspectorate, also addressed the gathering and stressed on the need for energy conservation.
A total of 51 participants from Group A and 54 from Group B from 16 districts took part in the event. The top three winners from Group A and B will now represent the state at national-level competition this year at Delhi.
The judges for the event were Taliyanger Ozukum, Retired deputy director (Art); Lanu Pongen, Freelancer; Neivotuo Keyho, Senior Artist, department of Art and Culture; Zeneizokho Kire, Art Teacher from John Govt. Hr. Sec. School, Viswema and Temjen Aier, Freelancer.

1st - A Bedila from Community Education Centre School Dimapur won a cash prize of INR 50,000 along with a certificate.
2nd - Keneingulie Vizo from High Mountain School Dimapur won a cash prize of INR 30,000 along with a certificate.
3rd - Reeva Sharma from Hope Academy Dimapur won a cash prize of INR 20,000 along with a certificate.
Consolation prizes of INR 7500 along with certificates were awarded to Anoto Sachu; Kothunee D Zeruiah; Mary Kesen; Hrüzüo Chüsüte; Masuma Yasmin; Kethokul Soleho; Shoiyan Y Wumnuk; Anushka Paul; Christabelie Kimerishriteri and Sujano Murry.
Category - B
1st - Yeputoli H Yepthomi from Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School Dimapur won INR 50,000 with a certificate.
2nd - Dhruman Das from Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School Dimapur won INR 30,000 along with a certificate.
3rd - Longtsoi L from Eklavya Model Residential School Tuensang won INR 20,000 along with a certificate.
Consolation prizes with cash amount of INR 7500 with certificates were awarded to Tsurito Yimchunger; Kunjal Bukheria; Ayushi Bhowal; Zaara Abdul; Dakleen Phom; Bhanmi Hazarika; N Yingyiu Phom; Srabani Paul; Besuvelu Tinyi and Lemchile Sangtam.
