Dimapur, Oct. 27 (EMN): The Nagaland District legal Service Authority (NSLSA) has awarded the best District Legal Service Authority (DLSA) and Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) during the valedictory session and commendation ceremony of the three-day refresher training for PLVs on Oct 27 at the Directorate of State Institute of Rural Development on Friday, Oct. 27.
This year’s best DLSA was awarded to Tuensang District Legal Services Authority (TDLSA) under the chairman, Mayang Lima (principal district and sessions judge) and secretary, N Kano (civil judge) while the best PLV was awarded to Bendangsenla Jamir of Mokokchung District Legal Services Authority.
Winners were awarded with laptops provided by Department of Justice and Law Nagaland, memento and certificate.
Delivering the valedictory address, LS Jamir urged the PLVs to adopt a girl child by providing assistance in opening saving account in postal department. He exhorted them to go back to their respective districts and spread awareness and assist the common man on what they have learnt from the training. Member Secretary NSLSA and Special Judge TDP Vigilance Commission Nino Iralu, appraised that the best DLSA could deliver services from NALSA scheme 2015 and 2016, worked in coordination with district administration and police and could effectively carry out monthly action plan with chairman, secretary, panel lawyers, PLVS and legal aid clinics.
She informed that the best PLV 2017 rescued destitute women, victims of domestic violence, helped the old and needy, assisted person with disabilities and worked in coordination with the District Legal Services Authority. Further, Iralu urged PLVs to work with missionary zeal and to enroll more PLVs from different professions. PLVS from all districts also shared learned perspective from the training.
