Dimapur, Oct. 20 (EMN): Judge of Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench and Executive Chairman Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) LS Jamir, inspected district courts of Wokha, Mokokchung and Longleng and also assessed District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) performance on Oct. 18 to 19.
Jamir was accompanied by Registrar Gauhati High Court Kohima Bench Y Longkumer, Member Secretary NSLSA M Nino Iralu, and Special Judge TDP Vigilance Commission.
During two day inspection, Jamir asked the chairman, secretary, panel lawyers and Para-Legal Volunteers (PLVs) of DLSAs to set up legal literacy club in schools and colleges by getting the involvement of the authorities and lecturers as PLVs. He said such legal literacy club would be effective in reaching out to the people.
The executive chairman urged to focus on rehabilitation while rendering legal services to the common man. Further, he congratulated DLSAs for systematic maintenance of the front office and for providing legal services.
Member secretary pointed out that a lot of work has been done on prevention, however to shift focus on rehabilitative aspect of legal service. She therefore, urged DLSAs to streamline activities in line with the ten National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) scheme 2015 and 2016 with focus on the unorganised sector and public utility services.
While inspecting the Legal Aid Clinic at Ungma and Fazl Ali College Mokokchung, PLVs of Mokokchung DLSA appraised on their performances, such as filling up of scholarship forms, aadhar correction bank account opening, sensitizing on constitutional rights and provisions, collecting names of disabled persons etc.
