Dimapur, Sep. 11 (EMN): The governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya on Sep. 10, visited landslide-affected areas in Chare town. He had earlier visited the affected areas in Tuensang and interacted with stakeholders and district administration.
After taking stock of the affected areas, the governor later interacted with village councils, GBs, church workers, women organisations, government officials, security agencies and NGOs at the 5th COB Assam Rifles camp in Chare town. During the interaction, many public leaders shared their plight and complained on the lack of development in the area. The area’s administrative officer also apprised the governor about Chare being one of the oldest EAC administrative outposts in Nagaland which was established in 1968 and appealed to upgrade it to SDO Headquarters.
The governor also visited Chare village and interacted with the village council members. He shared how Nagas should change their mindset and contribute more to the society instead of being dependent on the government. He said hard work and dedication can bring a lot of changes in the society and encouraged the people to be self sustained by utilising the rich biodiversity resources available in the region.
The Chare Baptist Church Women organisations and the public donated INR 16,548 towards the CM’s relief fund.
