Dimapur, October 6: State Chief Election Officer (CEO), Sanjay Kumar, today said the main objective of having Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Cell (SVEEP) in every department was to collaborate with all other departments in the State since the election process involves not only the election department but also with all department’s employees working under the State government.
Sanjay Kumar said this during a meeting of Election department along with the AHoDs, HoDs and nodal officers of different departments on the roles of SVEEP cell on October 6 at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima.Delivering the key note address, Sanjay Kumar said that the main objective of having SVEEP cell in every department was to collaborate with all departments in the State since the election process involves not only the election department but also with all other department employees working under the state government.
He urged all the stakeholders to be a responsible citizen in keeping the electoral rolls correct and updated thereby ensuring free and fair election as per the directives of the election commission.
He also said that it should be the duties and responsibilities of the government employees particularly the AHoDs, HoDs and the Nodal officers to take care of the problems and grievances faced by the downtrodden and illiterate persons as far as election matters are concerned.
Stressing on the importance of election pledge, he asked the concerned officers to make sure that no double entries or multiple registration are entered in the electoral rolls. At the same time, he also asked the concerned officers to keep the electoral rolls updated in the form of addition or deletion. He also urged them to sensitise the public on both awareness participation and disseminate valuable information at the right time.
Deputy Chief Electoral Officer, Vekho Vero, briefed on the importance of SVEEP Cell with a power point presentation, while the Joint CEO, Moa Aier, chaired the programme.
