A team of Nagaland BJP unit led by its president Dr M.Chuba Ao and National Secretary-cum-State In-charge Farooq Khan held a series of informal meetings with various NGOs including Naga Hoho, NBCC and BJP legislators at Kohima.
According to party’s statement issued today, the meeting with the Naga Hoho was very cordial. Hoho president Chuba Ozukum expressed his appreciation to BJP led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating the Naga Peace accord.
Appreciating the role played by Center’s interlocutor RN Ravi in bringing peace process to this stage, Ozukum expressed hope that it will come to reality by taking all the stakeholders in the board for peace in Nagaland.
The party delegates expressed that BJP as a party will extend its best ability to see that peace accord is finalized at the earliest so that Nagaland state will soon join with the rest of India in all aspects of development.
When Ozukum expressed the apprehension of the mind of the Naga public that the government of India might try to remove the Article 371(A), the party delegation assured that there is no such thing and requested the Naga people not to believe such misinformation given by some vested individuals.
The party delegation also met the Nagaland Baptist Church Council team led by its general secretary Rev.Dr. Zelhou Keyho who warmly welcomed Farooq Khan who is also In-charge of the party’s All India Minority. The NBCC stated that the churches in Nagaland are doing their best to reform the electioneering process under the slogan “Clean election in the state”, for which the party appreciated the role of the NBCC and assured them of all its cooperation.
On the apprehension expressed by the NBCC general secretary, where minorities, particularly the Christian community are under threat elsewhere in the mainland, the BJP Minority In-charge assured that BJP will see that all minority communities are safe. Further, he assured of the goal given by the Prime Minister, “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas” (Taking all together for all round development). The meeting concluded with a prayer for peace in the State.

The party delegation also held a high level meeting with the Nagaland BJP legislators at Kohima. Members present included P.Paiwang Konyak, Minister Of Transport & IT, Dr TM Lotha, Adviser for Treasury & Accounts and Imtilemba Sangtam, Adviser for Co-operation & Macrofed. However, Parliamentary Secretary for Labour and Employment, M. Kikon, who is also the State election officer of the party could not attend due to pre-engagement for the party organizational election in-progress in the State.
