THE State unit of BJP has reaffirmed its earlier stand that the three erstwhile NCP legislators Dr. TM Lotha, Imtilemba Sangtam and Mmhonlumo Kikon are its legislators notwithstanding whether the NLA Speaker had issued clearance/confirmation letter or not. The party said it is only a matter of time that the good sense of the Speaker would prevail for the good of the government and for the interest of the Nagas.
“No person (s) or member (s) would want to join a divided house whether a regional party or a national party as the present political scenario indicates; the party would gladly welcome any member (s) whoever is willing to join with clean mind to further strengthen and work for betterment of the party,” the State BJP said in a release.
On the claim that the NLA Speaker’s office sought copies of resolution from both the parties, the BJP unit stated that necessary documentations have been submitted to his esteemed office. “However, as for the three legislators seeking approval from its party leadership prior to merging with the BJP, the question does not arise as they would never be granted permission for merger,” the release said.
Stating that although unprecedented political imbroglio exists in the current Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the BJP hoped that the Speaker would act without pressure from any quarter as he is a seasoned politician and capable of taking any decision on his own with maturity.
Further, the BJP anticipated that the Speaker would continue to undertake steps which are favourable for the DAN III government to prosper as he has done earlier while assuring him that it would stand behind him as he contemplates his decision for the good of the State government and its people.
