Dimapur, Mar. 3 (EMN): Amid firecrackers and victory slogans, workers of the Nagaland unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and their candidates, joined by the party’s National General Secretary Ram Madhav, celebrated the success of its 20 candidates in the recently conducted Nagaland assembly elections which was declared on Mar. 3.
Ram Madhav, who arrived late in the evening at Hotel Saramati in Dimapur was greeted by a joyous crowd of BJP workers.
During the programme, the Nagaland unit president Visasolie Lhoungu acknowledged the hard work put in by the party’s workers and candidates to ensure victory ‘to bring about all round development in the state.’ He congratulated the successful candidates and thanked party workers who ‘sacrificed their time and energy for the momentous event.’
On the success of the party’s election efforts in the state, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tweeted: “Thank you Nagaland for supporting @BJP4Nagaland and our valued ally. I assure my sisters and brothers of Nagaland that we will continue to work for the progress and prosperity of Nagaland. I applaud the tireless work of the local BJP unit.”
Earlier, Ram Madhav tweeted: “I wish to highlight the spectacular performance of BJP in Nagaland. It has won 12 seats out of the contested 20. Highest ever.”
The state’s BJP unit also issued a statement thanking all who had supported the party and brought victory to its candidates.
