Dimapur, Aug. 25 (EMN): The newly constituted State Level Audit Advisory Board (Slaab) has expressed concern on ‘financial irregularities’ in various government departments. The board emphasised the need to create awareness among the general populace about the audit reports, which are annually submitted to the government and laid in the state assembly.
This concerned was shared during its first meeting held on Aug. 24 in the conference hall of the Accountant General (Audit), in Kohima. The board is headed by accountant general (Audit), A Pitoho Chophy, as the chairman and Dy. AG (Audit) Nikhil J. Chakravarthi, as member secretary.
It was informed that the main objective in constituting the board was to impart effective auditing with a forum created for professional discussion between the management of audit office and experienced professionals from varied fields.
During the meeting, the audit board discussed about the implementation of government programmes and schemes. They also deliberated on audit findings made through the CAG report of various state government departments from previous years and also the private firms in the state.
The board members also talked about how the board can work to be more relevant, effective, and to add value to the governance of the state.
