Dimapur, Oct. 14 (EMN): With the launch of the measles and rubella vaccination campaign (MRVC) on October 3, Nagaland has achieved 53.18% as on October 13. As per directive of the health and family welfare department every child between the age of nine month to 15 years should be vaccinated against the diseases.
A press release issued by Dr. Atoshe Sema, State Immunisation Officer, stated that the department could achieve 53.18% vaccinations against measles and rubella among children on day-10 since the launching of the campaign.
In this regards, the department of health and family welfare expressed gratitude to the administration, districts officials and frontline health workers at all levels for their tireless efforts towards achieving 53.18% coverage.
The department also thanked all schools, village councils, civil organisations and the public for their trust and co-operation in enabling successful vaccination of 2,49,577 children against the deadly measles and rubella diseases through a total of 2,374 school and 659 outreach sessions all over Nagaland as per reports received on October 12.
Wokha
Joining in the state-wide health campaign, the measles-rubella vaccination campaign, the 28th battalion of the Assam Rifles also hosted a vaccination camp at the Assam Rifles Middle School in Wokha on Oct. 12. The camp was inaugurated by the principal of the school, Mallika Borah, updates from the AR stated in a press statement.
116 children were been vaccinated during the event. A team of officials from the district immunization department, comprising two doctors and three nurses administered the vaccines to the children. The regimental medical officer of the 28th Assam Rifles along with a medical team participated in the programme.
There were interactions during the sidelines of the programme. The district immunization officials educate the local populace about the importance of vaccination. Children between the ages nine months and 15 years were vaccinated during the camp.
The district immunizations authority of Wokha issued a 100 % compliance certificate to the school, the AR stated.
