Longleng district organises workshop on vector borne diseases for stakeholders.

DIMAPUR — Longleng division of the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme (NVBDCP) conducted a one-day advocacy workshop on vector borne diseases on Tuesday at the conference hall of the chief medical officer (CMO) in Longleng town.
The objective of the workshop was to sensitise and mobilise key stakeholders for effective prevention and control of vector borne diseases during monsoon season.
An update from CMO stated that the key participants included town council members, Dobashis, ward presidents and representatives from civil society organisations.
A technical presentation was made by Nyumoi Phom, malaria consultant, who highlighted the burden of malaria and other vector borne diseases in Longleng district.

The consultant also shed light on preventive measures such as use of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLIN), indoor residual spraying (IRS) and environmental management.
Besides, importance of prompt treatment-seeking behavioural and community surveillance were highlighted during the workshop.
It stated that the interactive session enabled stakeholders to clarify doubts and share field-level challenges, which were addressed by the technical team.
Meanwhile, Dr. Tiasunep, CMO of Longleng, has expressed gratitude to all the participants for their participation and making the workshop a success.
