sensitisation at the DC conference hall in Wokha on Monday.
DIMAPUR — The
District Committee for Lighthouse School (DCLS) under the NECTAR project held a
meeting for stakeholder sensitisation on Monday at the DC conference hall,
Wokha.
The meeting was chaired by the deputy commissioner of Wokha,
Vineet Kumar. It centred on the upcoming construction of the Lighthouse Complex
(LCS), according to a DIPR report.
The joint secretary and deputy project director of
NEP-NECTAR, Avelü Ruho, provided an overview of the project's inception,
emphasising its objective to enhance educational institutions in the state,
particularly in government schools struggling to meet quality standards.
She noted that this lack of infrastructure and education
quality disproportionately affects children and students from rural parts of
the state, hindering their access to quality knowledge and education.
Government Higher Secondary School Wokha has been selected as the centre of
excellence under the project.
Ruho delivered a detailed PowerPoint presentation outlining
the project's objectives, concept implementation, selection criteria for
educational institutions, and the roles and responsibilities of the DCLS. She
appealed to the district's civil society organisations for their support and
assistance in addressing any challenges that may arise during project
execution.
DC Vineet Kumar assured attendees of the administration's
full support in addressing suggestions and queries related to the project.
Supported by the World Bank, the Department of School
Education launched the Nagaland Education Project—the Lighthouse—Nagaland
Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources (NECTAR), aiming to improve the
quality and learning outcomes of government schools in Nagaland.
