Dimapur, May 24 (EMN): The semi-final round of the 4th Phaipijang Pro League is set to kick-off at Phaipijang Sports Complex, Phaipijang Village.
According to the information and publicity cell of Orion Annexure, the organiser of Phaipijang Pro League (PPL), in the first semi-final Ngambom United CF will take on Purgatory FC while Skylight Team will take on FC Pegasus in the second semi-final.
Defending champions, Ngambom United opened their campaign with a comfortable 6-1 win against Upa FC but a draw against FC Pegasus and Chinnem Sporting Club and a defeat against Skylight Team made their chances of qualifying for the semi-finals very little. But a 5-1 win against Purgatory FC ensured their spot for the semi-finals.
Unlike Ngambom United CF, Purgatory FC had a pretty good League campaign registering 4 wins and 1 loss. Purgatory FC , meanwhile suffered a 5-1 defeat in their previous meeting and if they are to avenge their defeat and cause an upset , they must produce a top class performance.
Skylight Team who have gathered a highly talented squad are looking to play the final for the first time after bowing out in the semis in the previous 2 seasons. With three wins and two defeats in the league round, one against their semi-final opponents, FC Pegasus, Skylight have all eyes set on the ultimate prize.
FC Pegasus on the other hand, registered three wins one draw and one loss in the league round coming out second in the table. Missing out in the finals last season, FC Pegsus will be looking to add another silverware and take the trophy home again.
