Dimapur, March 21
The week long annual sports of St. Xavier’s School, Shamator concluded on March 20 with the Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima as the chief guest.
Bishop appreciated Fr. Francis and Fr kokoto Yimchunger for their services at Shamator. He also thanked the people and public leaders of Shamator for all their help.
While speaking on the importance of games and sports, the Bishop said, sport is not the time to compete by putting down others and winning the prizes. All are winners and not losers and we are participating to bring best, he added. St. Xavier School, which is into its eleventh year, have 22 teaching staff and over 1300 students and the school has its first batch of students in Cl.X. The school has been through rough and tough days of life with ethnic clashes, geographical remoteness, backwardness of connectivity and facilities, said Rev. Fr. Francis Yimso, howver, it has made its way, standing up to gospel values of being light and life to the people of the area, he added. There is a miracle in every day of life, taking shape in the formation of personality, growth of infrastructure, cultural interactions, national and international outings, publication of literature, and the like, said Fr Yimso and further added that God has been abundantly blessing this land through the instrumentality of St. Xavier School with all who are part of it.
The colourful day was marked with unfurling of flag, special songs, march past, drill-display, contemporary dance and musical piece presented by the students.
