during the occasion of World Social Work Day on Tuesday.
- SENAPATI — Social Work
trainees of St. Xavier College, Senapati, Manipur observed World Social Work
Day on Tuesday, drawing attention to transformative power of social work in
fostering resilient communities and uplifting lives.
- Organised by
the Social Work Department of the college, the event was attended by Rev Fr Dr
William Nepuni, Principal of the college; Fr John Pouveiche, Vice Principal;
and the faculty.
Addressing
the students, resource person Asahrii Clement K, Social Engineer, Former
President and Tribunal General, Poumai Naga Tsiidoumai Me (PNTM), expounded the
crucial role of social workers in the contemporary society and also touched
upon the significance of this year's theme, "Strengthening
Intergenerational Solidarity for Enduring Well Being".
- Clement, who
is also a social work graduate, spoke the core values of social work and its
service to humanity, while sharing his personal journey and experience in the
field.
Urging the
students, faculty, and administrators to prioritise fieldwork besides
theoretical learning and go beyond their comfort zones, he said the essence of
genuine social work lies in active engagement in fieldwork.
- Earlier in
the programme, Principal of the college delivered an insightful speech,
stressing the importance of self-reliance and propounding education as a
service, while a social work trainee welcomed the guests and participants.
