The annual sports week of St. Xavier College, Jalukie kicked stated today in the college campus with Rhosietho Ngori, SDO (Civil), Jalukie as the chief guest. Addressing the students, the chief guest said, illiteracy hampers growth in India, however, in Nagaland the illiterates engage themselves in productive activities like collection of stones, firewood, farming, etc thus contributing to the state and to the nation. The problem before us today is to manage the educated, who feel that they should do only white collar jobs and remain unemployed and unproductive, he stated. Therefore even the educated should engage in productive activities and contribute to the society while waiting for white collar jobs, added the chief guest. As college students one should not lag behind, lest the juniors will overtake in the pursuit of learning and achieving success, he exhorted.The chief guest was received by the NCC cadets of the college. The welcome speech was delivered by Rev. Fr. Jose Lukose, the Principal who appreciated the chief guest for being a responsible officer and humble in his approach to anyone who came into contact with him. The Principal also thanked the administration, staff, the sports committee and all the students of the college for their cooperation in the success of all the activities in the college.
