The Graduation-cum-Freshers’ Day of St. Xavier College, Jalukie, was held on July 30 in the Seminary Auditorium.
The chief guest on the occasion was Peter Lichamo, Deputy Commissioner, Peren, who was accompanied by SDO (C) Jalukie, district planning officer peren and district public relations officer Peren. The chief guest while congratulating the graduates exhorted, “as graduates, you are entering into the world of competition. If you work hard with a specific goal in mind, you will surely succeed. Do not hesitate or be scared to venture into new avenues of life”.
Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Sanbile who was assessed as the Best Graduate of the year appreciated and thanked the Principal and teaching faculty for the sincere service, which helped them to be a graduate today.
Vote of thanks was proposed by Subole, Assistant Professor. She also thanked the Rector and staff of the seminary for their help and the college staff and students who supported in different ways to make the day a reality.
In the welcome speech, Fr. Jose Lukose, the Principal welcomed the chief guest and other dignitaries. He congratulated the graduates and appreciated the hard work of the teachers with whose support the college produces very good result each year. “In spite of the limited facilities available in the college, the Catholic Church keeps on supporting the growth of the college in order to render higher education to the less fortunate students of this backward area”, the principal added.
The chief guest exhorted the freshers: “this is an opportunity given to learn to live together though you are from different tribes and religion. Every opportunity given should be made use of well so that you will not regret for having wasted your life in the college”. Tsalobe Denis and Justina Ventila were adjudged as Mr. & Miss. Freshers 2014. The students to mark the day put up a number of cultural items.
