St. Joseph’s College Jakhama celebrated its 35th graduation day with Vice Chancellor Jagadish Kumar Patnaik urging students to embrace innovation, AI, and responsibility to society.

DIMAPUR — St. Joseph’s College (SJC) (Autonomous), Jakhama, celebrated its 35th graduation day on Tuesday at the College Indoor Stadium.


According to a press release, the event was attended by Jagadish Kumar Patnaik, vice chancellor of Nagaland University, as special guest, accompanied by N Albert Khizo, finance officer of Nagaland University.


Addressing the gathering, Patnaik reminded the graduates that life beyond academics would bring new challenges. He stressed that employment should not be viewed as limited to government or private sectors alone.


“Employment is not only what is given to you but also what you create for yourself,” he said. Highlighting the growing importance of artificial intelligence and technology, he urged the students to embrace innovation, adapt to changing times, and use their knowledge in service of society.

He further encouraged them to step forward with resilience, confidence, and a deep sense of responsibility to their communities.


Earlier, in his welcome address, Principal Dr. Fr. George Keduolhou Angami urged the graduates to become the best version of themselves and remain committed to personal goals and reminded them that the greatest leaders are those who create more leaders.


Delivering his message, Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, bishop of Kohima and chairman of SJC (A), encouraged the students to be catalysts in society, to face challenges with courage, and to move forward with pride in their achievements and confidence in their abilities.


Speaking on behalf of the graduates, Best Graduate Tokabo Katty of the Department of Economics stated that God’s plans are always greater than human expectations.
