
Dignitaries along with the faculty and students of St.
Joseph’s College (Autonomous) during its 11th edition of Spring Fest in Jakhama
on March 7.
- DIMAPUR — St.
Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, hosted a two day annual 11th edition of
Spring Fest on March 7 and 8 on the theme “Heritage awakening.”
- The inaugural session was moderated by B Moiba Phom and
Lumvila T Sangtam, while Dr. Fr. Obed Yimchunger, college’s vice principal,
said an invocation prayer and a soul-stirring medley of songs was presented by
the college choir. The welcome address was delivered by Dr. Fr. George Angami,
principal of SJC(A), Jakhama.
- The guest of honour and bishop of Kohima, Rev. Dr. James
Thoppil, congratulated the Josephites for organising the 11th Spring Fest, an
initiative that was started since 2014. He enunciated that heritage is the
heart of community and the greatest gift of God to the people.
- The special guest and deputy commissioner of Phek, John
Tsulise Sangtam, expressed his amazement at the college campus and wished that
the Josephites would remain fresh as ever and bloom as a spring in the future.
- Sangtam encouraged the students to work hard and believe in
oneself to achieve success in life. He also encouraged the students to be
authentic and identify one’s gifts to contribute to the one’s family as well as
the society. He concluded by saying that they will be builders and shapers of a
new tomorrow.
- The DC also declared the 11th Spring Fest opened.
- The second session was marked by diverse activities such as
folk dance, war cry, ethnic fashion show, rooster catching, snail eating
competition, greased bamboo pole climbing, go-cart race, stilt bamboo walk and
photography competition.
- Renowned artistes including Ace Crew, Guru Gee, Yemkong
Somba and Divine Connection made electrifying performances.
- The second day of Spring Fest was marked by Naga wrestling.
Artistes including Hopong Naga, Cherry on Jupiter and Trance Effect also
performed on the second day programme.
