St. Joseph University in Chümoukedima organises the fourth edition of SJU Heritage Diem featuring food and poetry.

DIMAPUR — St. Joseph University (SJU) at Ikishe Model Village, Chümoukedima, in collaboration with the Department of History, organised the fourth edition of SJU Heritage Diem on the theme "Flavours of heritage: A cultural voyage through food and words" on October 1.
The event sought to celebrate and promote cultural heritage through food, literature, memory, and traditional culinary practices, drawing participation from more than 500 students, according to an update.
The programme was conducted in two sessions, beginning with a poetry competition on the theme "Poetry of food: Expressions of taste and memory".
Resource person Dr. Achanger delivered an address on the significance of food in preserving culture and identity, with particular focus on Naga cuisine.
He stressed the need for careful research into the origins and evolution of food practices, cautioning against accepting practices described as traditional without examining their historical and cultural roots.

MGM College holds workshop on academic writing, AI tools
A total of 31 students from 17 departments participated in the poetry competition. The first prize was jointly won by Shiny L Mech of the Department of Biotechnology and Moiya N Konyak of the Department of English.
The second session, centred on the theme "Heritage on leaves: Celebrating traditional culinary practices" featured a display of traditional foods, culinary practices, presentation methods, and cultural knowledge.
Seventeen departments participated in the culinary display, presenting traditional cuisines representing different communities and states. Based on an independent assessment of the displays supported by a contribution from an anonymous donor, the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication won the first prize.
