St. Joseph University in Chümoukedima hosts the 6th Historia Diem celebrating cultural heritage and traditions.

DIMAPUR — The Heritage Club, in collaboration with the Department of History, organised the 6th Historia Diem on September 8 at the St. Joseph University Auditorium in Chümoukedima.
According to an update, Dr. Yilobemo, Head of the Department of History at ICFAI University, delivered a speech on the theme "Echoes of the past, voices of the present".
He highlighted the importance of preserving legacies of the past in a fast-advancing world and asserted the need to preserve good traditions and ancestral culture in contemporary society, discarding negative aspects.
He also focused on the emergence of new branches of history, such as food culture history, which is increasingly becoming a central focus at the global academic level for cultural preservation. He urged participants to take the preservation of culture seriously as an integral part of one's identity.

As part of the event, students competed in indigenous tribal folk drama, folk songs, heritage displays, and traditional showcases. In the folk drama competition, the postgraduate third semester emerged as the winner, while undergraduate third semester and undergraduate fifth semester secured second and third positions, respectively.
In the folk song competition, postgraduate third semester won first place, followed by undergraduate third semester in second and undergraduate first semester in third. In the traditional showcase, undergraduate first semester emerged as the winner, with postgraduate third semester and postgraduate first semester taking second and third places, respectively.
In the individual heritage display category, Ariena Moa Changkiri of postgraduate first semester emerged as the winner, while Supongmenla and Kevilhou Kevin Chasie, both from undergraduate first semester, took second and third positions, respectively.
Around 140 participants, including students and faculty, attended the event.
