Dimapur, Nov. 29 (EMN): English department of St. John College, Dimapur, organised an educational trip for students of 4th semester (English Honours) on November 28 to ‘The Famous Letter Press,’ a design studio, store, and printing press in Jail Road, Dimapur.
An update from the college media cell stated that a total of seventeen students were given a guided tour inside the letter press by officials of the establishment. It added that their curiosity on various publishing tools and techniques were enlightened. They were shown how their indigenous fusion art is created on an antique ‘original Heidelberg’ printing press, designed for fine finish.
The visit was followed with a brief talk by the assistant director of SJC, Setuomenuo Ao, who was the brainchild of the project. A lively discussion was held at Central Perk café aimed at understanding the nuances of production process and how an author-publisher worked to produce marketable or quality products.
The commercialisation of literary works and the author’s involvement in the process of publishing original work were broadly discussed on the regional and national context.
The team was also accompanied by Ghunato Neho, assistant professor of English, and other faculty.
