Dimapur, March 22 (EMN): In celebration of World Poetry Day, the department of English, St. John organised a Poetry Slam Competition on March 21.

An update from the institution informed that the event commenced with a note on the significance of the day by Inakali Assumi, HoD and assistant professor of English.

Meanwhile, the Poetry Slam witnessed an array of participants with their original poems on relevant and significant themes of the present generation and the nature of life. The competition was judged on composition, expression, body gesture, diction, creativity and authenticity.

It said that Ilisa Chishi of English dept. stood first in the competition, while Ivuli Yeptho of History dept. took the second place.
