Dimapur, May 30 (EMN): The Sand Stockist & Supplies Union Dimapur (SSSUD) has decided to stop paying dual tax to the department of Environment, Forest & Climate change (EF&CC) and Geology & Mining (G&M), with effect from June 1, 2018, until the government give the decision to which department it would allow to levy tax on sand laden vehicles.
In a press release, Viniho Shohe, SSUD president, and its secretary Nito Sumi stated that the union was not in a position to give tax to two departments on a same item.
It has alleged the department of Geology & Mining (G&M) of issuing money receipt while the department of Environment, Forest & Climate change (EF&CC) of issuing token in small piece of paper in both new field area and Dilai check gate. The union has requested the state government to clarify which department was authorised to collect the said tax on sand laden vehicles.
Furthermore, the union has requested all the suppliers, vehicle owners, and drivers of sand laden vehicles to abide by the meeting resolution and not to pay tax from June 1, 2018.
It also warned that if any vehicle was found going against the meeting resolution, the defaulter vehicles would not be allowed to unload the sand at the sand stockist. The union further informed all the members to reach New field and Dilai gate at 4:30 AM on June 1, 2018 without fail.
