Dimapur, May 21 (EMN): Alleging the joint resolution of the district administration, police, Sumi Hoho, SOUZ and SKH as hasty, harsh and provoking, the SARDP Sumi Area Affected Landowners Welfare Committee (SSAALWC) comprising eight villages in Zunheboto district have resolved to outrightly reject the joint resolution.
In a representation to the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto, the committee alleged that instead of addressing their demand, the signatories of joint resolution served them with intimidation like common criminals.
It also alleged gross violation of landownership rights on the part of the signatories of joint resolution.
“We will not allow/compromise any repressive action in our God’s
given ancestral land without oral/ written approval from me/us. We are not against the overall development, but first fulfil what the aggrieved landowners have been claiming,” the committee convenor Ghuvishe V Zhimomi and secretary Kakheto Zhimo stated.
It stated that the ongoing arbitration between the Nagaland state government Vs Gayatri and Maytas has nothing to do with the landowners but the problem of the government competent authority(s).
It affirmed to its previous resolutions by stating that till the payment is made, the committee would not allow any construction company(s) to continue their work.
It further stated that in the event of any conflicts/ clashes between the beneficiaries/ landowners, police forces/ arm forces and construction company, the signatories of the joint resolution would be held sole responsibility.
It may be mentioned here that a joint emergency meeting of district administration, police, Sumi Hoho, Souz and SKH was held on May 20 at the official residence of the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto and discussed issues pertaining to stoppage of ongoing two lane road construction by SSAALWC.
It resolved that SSAALWC should withdraw the stoppage and allow the road construction work to resume in the larger public interest with immediate effect.
Considering the merit of the demand put forth by the SSAALWC, it resolved to continuously extend all logistic supports to the welfare committee. The house also resolved that henceforth if any individual/ group obstruct the ongoing road construction or any developmental activities in the district, strict legal action would be initiated against the defaulters as per the provision of the law.
The joint resolution was appended by the deputy commissioner of Zunheboto Peter Lichamno, superintendent of police Uniel Kichu, and general secretary of Sumi Hoho I Nikheto Jimomi.
