Dimapur, October 13 : The Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) has cautioned the government of Nagaland that the teachers are ready to put into action an ultimatum that the organization served recently.
The organization issued a press release on Thursday. While it did not specify the demands, they are understood to be the recent representation that demanded release of pending salaries due to SSA teachers.
The seven-day ultimatum was served to address four demands that the teachers placed. The deadline expires on October 15.
“Despite the nearing end of the ultimatum, the government has not responded nor invited the NSSATA to solve the demands of the victimized teachers concerned,” the organization lamented in the press release.
In the event that the government fails to respond, the organization warned, a state-wide phased agitation will begin from October 17 as resolved earlier.
“In this regard, NSSATA informs and directs its entire members of around 2, 600 plus teachers to be prepared mentally and physically to cooperate in the proposed agitation for the common interest and valid rights of all the teachers,” the note added.
