Dimapur, May 11 (EMN): In the aftermath of dismal performance by government schools in the recently declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) results conducted by the Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Satoi Range Students’ Union (SRSU) has decided to check on irregularities and proxy teaching within its jurisdiction.
Towards this end, SRSU has announced to conduct surprise checking on irregularities of all teachers at Government Primary Schools (GPS) and Government High Schools (GHS) in all the eleven villages under Satoi area soon.
In the press note SRSU president Nikato Aye and the general secretary Homugha Achumi informed that SRSU would conduct the investigation to look into the irregularities of those irresponsible teachers for illegal practises of proxy teachers at Government High School, Satoi headquarters in Zunheboto district, which has adversely affected the students’ academic career.
SRSU reminded that all government teachers are liable for termination with effect from the date of appointment if any teacher concerned is absent from duty for more than one month without leave or if found to keep proxy teacher in his or her place of posting in accordance with the undertaking signed by the individual appointee.
The union said the same yardstick would be applied to all illegal practices of proxy teaching under Satoi headquarters and report to the higher authority for strict and necessary action even to the extent of termination of service. While affirming that no proxy teaching will be entertained, the union has warned to initiate strict action adding it would not be held responsible under any circumstances.
Further informing that “no grace period” will be given with effect from May 30, SRSU reminded all the teachers of Government High School Satoi (GHSS) to be stationed at Satoi headquarters within thirty days from the publication of this notice and to perform their duty efficiently to ensure quality education.
According to SRSU, GHS Satoi recorded nil result in HSLC 2016 with the total enrolment of four students, while in 2017 only one qualified out of the total enrolment of three students.
The union has attributed the same to irregularities of teachers and proxy teachings. It added that there is less enrolment at Government High School Satoi because of lack of basic infrastructures and irregularities of teachers and proxy teachings.
At present GHSS comprised of seven graduate teachers, two under graduate teachers and two Hindi teachers and five primary teachers at Government Primary School Satoi.
SRSU held a meeting with all the unit presidents of the eleven villages on April 19 and resolved to forgo proxy teaching in the area by adhering to the directives of All Sumi Students Union (SKK).
The union further appealed the State minister of School Education and SCERT, Yitachu to come out with corrective measures to stop proxy teaching at the earliest in the State.
