- DIMAPUR — Various
sports bodies and organisations in Nagaland have expressed condolences
following the death of veteran sports administrator Pelezotuo Mezhür Sekhose,
also known as Atuo Mezhür, who passed away in Kohima on June 13.
- NOA: In a condolence note, Abu Metha, Secretary General of
the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA) and Vice President of the Athletics
Federation of India (AFI), stated that late Sekhose was a towering figure whose
multifaceted contributions to education, social service, and especially sports
have left an indelible mark on Nagaland and beyond.
- “His legacy in the field of sports stands as a shining
testament to his vision, integrity and unwavering dedication to the cause of
youth and athletic excellence,” he said.

- Stating that his voice was one of strength and
conviction—always speaking up for what was right and just—Metha noted that his
passing is not just a personal loss but a collective bereavement for the entire
sporting community.
- “The void he leaves behind will be difficult to fill,” he
said.
- On behalf of the NOA and the entire sports fraternity of
Nagaland, he extended deepest condolences to the bereaved family and prayed
that Almighty God grant them strength and comfort and that the departed soul
rest in eternal peace.
- NFA: The Nagaland Football Association (NFA), mourning the
demise, said that late Sekhose was a very proactive, dedicated, and visionary
leader who stood out as a prominent public figure in Nagaland and beyond.
- Stating that through his loss, the NFA and the Nagaland
sporting community in particular, and the Nagas in general, have lost a very
prominent, respected, and influential leader and mentor, the association
maintained that the NFA and the football community mourn the irreplaceable loss
of their dear leader and father figure.
