Mon holds SVEEP awareness while Zunheboto prepares for house-to-house verification under the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
DIMAPUR — Special awareness and verification drives under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of Electoral Rolls 2026 have been initiated in Mon and Zunheboto districts.
Mon: In Mon, a SVEEP special awareness programme on the SIR was held at the deputy commissioner’s (DC) conference hall on Tuesday.
The programme was attended by DC and District Election Officer of Mon, Wennyei Konyak, as the special guest, according to a DIPR report.
Addressing the citizens, he stated that the SVEEP campaign is designed to clean and make a healthy electoral roll and urged the people to learn from the awareness programme and educate themselves, their families, and friends. He encouraged the gathering to be responsible in cleaning the rolls for free and fair elections.
The Assistant Election Officer of Mon, Lungkube, gave a brief introduction to the SIR and initiated the voter's pledge. Delivering the welcome address, Additional Deputy Commissioner and SVEEP Nodal Officer, PaKon Phom, stated that clean, free, and fair elections require clean electoral rolls.
Zunheboto: In Zunheboto, the office of the DC and District Election Officer has informed that booth-level officers (BLOs) will undertake a house-to-house verification exercise from August 16 to September 14 as part of the SIR.
According to a circular issued by DC and District Election Officer Dharam Raj, BLOs will distribute and collect Enumeration Forms (EFs) from electors within their respective polling station areas. All electors have been requested to keep passport-size photographs ready, as they are mandatory for smooth and timely verification.
The circular further stated that the claims and objections period will be held from September 20 to October 20, while the hearing and disposal of claims and objections will continue until November 18.
Electors with issues such as mapping errors, anomalies, or discrepancies may be required to appear before the electoral registration officer (ERO) or assistant electoral registration officer (AERO) with the necessary documents.
To ensure the successful conduct of the revision exercise, all administrative officers, village councils, village development boards, gaon buras, colony councils, ward authorities, and other stakeholders have been requested to extend full cooperation and help create public awareness.
