Dimapur, June 6 (EMN): In pursuance to the directives of the Election Commission of India (ECI), Kohima district election machinery will launch a ‘Special Drive’ with effect from July 1 to 31. Activities of the special drive will include enrolment in the electoral roll of all eligible young Indian citizens particularly in the age group of 18-19 years, removal of names of dead electors, multiple names, transferred out and underage names.
Special campaigns will be held in all the polling stations under Kohima district on July 8 and 22 where the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will be present with sufficient Forms to facilitate the public. The BLOs should also conduct door to door verification in the area falling under his jurisdiction from the period July 1 to 22.District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Rajesh Soundarrajan has requested all stakeholders such as political parties, NGOs, churches, media, village/ colony/ ward authorities to extend cooperation and participation for maximisation of registration of eligible electors and removing the impurities in the electoral rolls.
