DIMAPUR — Water and Soil Conservation (S&WC) department has informed that the south-west monsoon, which is considered as the lifeline of agri-based economy, is expected to advance in the state.
An update from the department stated that the south-west monsoon has come at a time when parts of the state were experiencing high maximum temperature. In the last five days, the department has recorded an average maximum temperature of 24.2° C, while minimum temperature hovered at 16.3° C. The highest temperature of 37.0° C was recorded at Jalukie station on May 17 and the lowest minimum temperature of 10.6° C was reported in Zunheboto station on May 15.
[bsa_pro_ad_space id=1]It added that the total accumulative rainfall of 845.9mm was recorded over different stations. The highest rainfall of 46.0mm (moderate rainfall) was reported on May 15 in Meluri station. It stated that the chief amount of rainfall in the last 24 hours was recorded as 138mm in the state.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its weather bulletin stated that light to moderate widespread of rainfall with thunderstorm and gusty wind is likely to continue in the state for the next few days.
