Students of Soul House Academy visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra Yisemyong in Mokokchung for a study tour, learning about soil analysis, integrated farming.

DIMAPUR — Students of Soul House Academy visited Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Yisemyong, Mokokchung, on Thursday as part of their study tour programme.
According to a press release, the students from grades 5 to 7, accompanied by their teachers and the principal, toured the KVK office and its instructional units.
The programme started with a brief introduction session at the KVK premises where the students and KVK scientists had an interaction.

The students were given a tour of the soil lab where Imtilemla, assistant chief technical officer (ACTO) (Soil Conservation), gave a firsthand introduction of the soil analysis process, followed by a brief explanation of the Integrated Farming System (IFS) Model displayed in the ATTIC Cell at the KVK Mokokchung office.
Hands-on training on nursery bed preparation was given by Imtisenla, ACTO (Agronomy). The students were also briefed about the importance of the Automatic Weather Station (AWS) in providing real-time, hyper-local data to enable precision farming, enhance crop yields, and reduce losses from extreme weather.
Dr. Sarendi Walling, ACTO (Animal Science), elaborated on the importance of Azolla as a feed supplement for poultry production.
Different pest management tactics, like the use of yellow sticky traps, pheromone traps, neem oil for repellents, etc., were demonstrated to the students by Dr. Martha Chakruno, ACTO (Plant Protection).
The scientists of the Kendra guided the students in explaining different technologies promoted by the Kendra. The students were also given a tour of the instructional farm and different standing crops.
Altogether, 29 students and five teachers, accompanied by the principal, visited the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Yisemyong.
