Sonowal takes charge as sports minister

IANS New Delhi, May 27 [dropcap]M[/dropcap]inister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Sarbananda Sonowal, who assumed charge Tuesday, said he would consult the experts before deciding on his future course of action.Sonowal, who holds independent charge of the portfolio, was briefed on key initiatives and policy framework of the ministry by the secretaries of Department of Youth Affairs and Department of Sports and other senior ministry officials. Sonowal was elected from Assam’s Lakhimpur constituency on a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket.
