Diphu, July 21 (EMN): Completing 15 years of the publication of ‘Solangdo’, an Assamese daily published from Diphu, Karbi Anglong, the publishing house  celebrated its 15th anniversary on Wednesday.

A short programme was organised with limited attendance by media persons and writers by following the Covid protocol here at Rangsina Sarpo Cultural Hall, Lorulangso.

On the occasion, a book written by Borsing Rongphar, editor of Solangdo, ‘Nirbasita Sampadokiya (A collection of selected editorial of Solangdo) was released by Member of Autonomous Council (MAC), D Uphing Maslai.

Maslai said though there is a fast rise of digital media but the importance and popularity of print media cannot be avoided.

“Though digital media is increasing very fast and people get information about various things through social media within a short time, the importance of print media cannot be ignored.  Reports and various information are being printed in newspapers. The pass records in print are preserved and only in newspapers we can search for important pass records,” Maslai said.

Maslai appreciated the work of Borsing Rongphar in keeping alive the Solangdo newspaper as it is not an easy task publishing a newspaper to compete in this digital media world.

The programme was presided over by writer Pabitra Bora and attended by assistant secretary, Karbi Lammet Amei, Joysing Tokbi; social worker, Longsing Tokbi; editor, The Hills Times, English daily, Rameswar Chauhan; editor, The Arleng Daily, Karbi vernacular daily, TP Hanse and senior journalist Sonju Borah.
