Dimapur, Dec. 19 (EMN): Commemorating 50th years of its existence, department of soil and water conservation has organised a programme for release of jubilee souvenir in its directorate’s conference hall.
Welcoming the gathering, Viliehu Nguzhu, director of soil & water conservation, congratulated the officers and staff - both past and present - for their service rendered to the state and also towards the growth of the department. He also mentioned that the primary strength of the department was skilled and professionally competent manpower.
He was optimistic that the department would take up more challenges with highest standard of professional efficiency and decorum.
The jubilee souvenir was released by the minister of soil & water conservation, geology and mining, NSAMB and vice chairman of state land use board (SLUB), V Kashiho Sangtam. In his speech, the minister mentioned that fifty years is a good span of time for the department to take stock of the past performances and to work out better strategies for future challenges.
He also encouraged the department to work with dedication, sincerity and to excel.
Presentation on revamping of SLUB was delivered by K Khekiho Shohe, joint director. The programme was chaired by Vikeyie Kenya, commissioner and secretary.
