Dimapur, Oct. 4: Minister for Technical and Higher Education Temjen Imna Along inaugurated a water dispenser called the ‘water automated teller machine’ (ATM), and a cafeteria at the Dimapur Government College (DGC) on Thursday Oct. 4.
It was informed that the water facility was an initiative of ZSEE Smart Solutions Pvt. Ltd. India, in partnership with the department of Higher Education, and the Public Health Engineering department. The machine dispenses one litre of water, at the price INR 2.
In his speech, Along urged the institution to take advantage of technological advancement to live more environmental-friendly lives. He lauded the alumni association for giving back generously to its alma mater.
The president of the DGC’s Alumni Association, Yanger, explained the association’s collaborative work with the college including management of the college’s cafeteria. He informed that the proceeds from the cafeteria would be utilised for the development of the college.
The cafeteria is said to be managed by the alumni association. It has a seating capacity for around 50 people and offers a variety of popular snacks and drinks at student-friendly prices.
Assistant Professor Moamongla Aier informed that a non-governmental organisation along with the Dimapur Municipal Council will be taking the initiative to manage plastic waste in the campus.
It was informed that plastic waste would be disposed off on Fridays by the organisation.
