Today as the scheme will be launched at the national level by Hon’ble Prime Minister, it is also being concurrently launched in all the state capitals across the country, says Chief Minister Ibobi while launching the schemes at the Chandrakrity auditorium in Imphal this evening.
Ibobi said, “Accidental deaths are on rise in India, which is cause of major concern, as the untimely death of bread earners in most of the low and middle class families’ leads to financial crunch in the families. The associated medical treatment costs also add to the burden to the family members. Though people with high income can afford accidental insurance, it is nearly impossible for poor people with one earning member to buy such insurance due to high premium.”
Considering this Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana was announced in the union budget 2015-2016 which is a part of social security scheme, it aims to provide compensation to the family members of the deceased or with partial disability at the cheapest insurance premium in India.
Stating that under these schemes, all the eligible family members who hold bank accounts in their names could enroll and ensure social security, Chief Minister said, “I appeal to all the eligible people to utilize this opportunity and get enrolled in the schemes.”
