
Dimapur, Feb. 1 (EMN): Under the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), Tuensand district tobacco control cell (DTCC), in collaboration with Frontier Re En-Bloc (FREE) Motorcycle Club, Tuensang, launched a smoke-free district headquarter campaign on February 1 on the theme “Choose life, not tobacco.”
An update from the office of the chief medical officer (CMO), Tuensang, stated that the superintendent of police of Tuensang, Vishal, spoke on the harmful effects of tobacco and stated that smoking causes lung diseases etc. Mentioning that consuming tobacco increases the risk for cancer, he has stressed on the need to create aware among the public.
He also appreciated the members of motorcycle club for taking initiatives on tobacco awareness campaign along with the department and requested them to make Tuensang district tobacco-free.
The programme was chaired by Sentilong Longchar, district consultant, who also highlighted the aims of the campaign.
Besides the superintendent of police and motorcycle club officials, other officials from the districts attended the programme.
