Smart electricity meter installation begins in Mon town under RDSS to improve billing transparency and power services.

DIMAPUR — The Electrical Sub-Division, Mon, has informed citizens and electricity consumers of Mon town that installation of smart electricity meters is being carried out under the Government of India’s power sector digitalisation programme, RDSS (Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme).
According to a DIPR report, the purpose of smart metering is to improve transparency, billing accuracy, energy management, and overall efficiency of electricity services for consumers.
The report stated that the installation process is being conducted through authorised agencies and officials only. Consumers have been requested to extend cooperation to the installation teams during the ongoing work.

The general public has also been advised not to believe, spread, or circulate rumours, misleading information, or false news regarding smart meters and the installation process.
It stated that spreading unverified information may create unnecessary confusion and fear among the public.
