
Dimapur, Sep. 23 (EMN): Considering that more than 60% of the state population depended on Agri and Allied sectors for livelihood, chairman of State Level Sanctioning Committee (SLSC) of the Agri and Allied departments and Nagaland chief secretary, J Alam, appreciated the Agri and Allied departments for performing crucial role during the Covid-19 pandemic coupled with deficit rainfall and infestation of fall army worm.
Alam stated this during the committee meeting for the year 2021-2022 held in the Secretariat conference hall on September 23, which was attended by all the AHOD, HODs and missions of Agri and Allied departments, a DIPR report stated.
While congratulating the officials of the Agri and Allied departments for their positive performances during these hard times, Alam called for close coordination among the departments and urged to utilise the funds for the benefit of the farming community.
It stated that major convergence schemes of the Agri and Allied departments- RKVY, PMKSY, MOVCD-NER and other CSS schemes namely NFSM, ATMA, NMSA, SMAM, NMEO etc., were taken up by the SLSC for recommendation and approval.
Also speaking in the meeting, Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) and SLSC vice chairman, Y Kikheto Sema, encouraged the members to provide extraordinary service to the needy people and urged the district officers to deliver the goods to the people.
Stating that the state is going through a double pandemic of Covid-19 and drought in the farmer’s field, he called upon the Agri and Allied departments to come out of isolation and work together for the benefit of the farmers and progress of the state.
