Skylark lifts first Master Shield T20 Cricket Trophy

Our Correspondent Mokokchung, February 2 Skylark lifted the first Master Shield T20 Cricket Trophy after defeating the Clipper by 5 wickets at Imkongmeren Sports Complex today, organized by Mokokchung District T20 Cricket Federation (MDTCF). The winner walked away with a cash prize of 30000 rupees along with the Shield and certificates while the runner-up bagged a cash prize of 15000 rupees along with trophy and certificates. On final match on Tuesday, the Clipper won the toss and opted to bat and completed the inning scoring a total of 98 runs. Holding high hope on their bowlers and strong fielding the Clipper entered the field and pressurized the opener batman’s of Skylark and intimately wickets begin to fall. However with the entry of Kenie Solo, the fourth batman of Skylark shift the score board and also the formation of the fielding to change to safe the boundary from Kenie’s strokes. With steady increase in scoring and still five wickets on hand the Skylark reached their target at the 18 over. Kenie’s notched the victory for the Skylark by hitting a boundary at the 18th over. Kenie’s was given the title of Man of the match for contributing 30 runs and notching a wicket. The final programme was grace by DSP Lipoktemsu, Mokokchung DEF and Major David of 164 Naga Regiment as the guest of honor. The chief guest in his address congratulated the participants and expressed his hope that each player has put their skills and talents against their opponent in true sporting spirits during the whole tournament. He also encouraged the players to make this opportunity to showcase their spirit and comradeship. Expressing his enthusiasm to see many collective talents of the youth from Mokokchung striving for excellence in sport, he urged the sportsperson to add glory to their game and to uplift the state in years and to come.
