DIMAPUR — A three-day skill training programme aimed at enhancing rural employment opportunities got underway at Peren Town Hall on August 3.
The programme, organised by the Nagaland Khadi Village Industries Board (NKVIB), in collaboration with Glocal Concepts Nagaland, was aimed at developing individuals' skills and improving work proficiency among unemployed youth.
The commissioner and secretary of Industries and Commerce, Kekhrievor Kevichusa, who was also the special guest, encouraged the youth to apply the knowledge gained for income generation and commended Glocal Concepts Nagaland for their efforts to uplift the educated unemployed youth.
Kevichusa has emphasised the importance of proper attention during training and discussed the significance of bank loan applications for interested candidates after the training. He urged the district administration and SBI bank manager to support entrepreneurs' proposals and ensure full-scale funding for business purposes, a DIPR report stated.

The training programme would offer courses in food processing, beekeeping, upholstery, carpentry and more. It included hands-on training in cake baking, pizza making, and upholstery, along with soap-making techniques.
Approximately 324 youth have registered for the three-day training.
The inaugural programme was chaired by the joint CEO of NKVIB, Kivishe Sema, followed by a welcome address delivered by NKVIB board member, Akalu Zeliang. The event also featured a special presentation by Hangsibe Kenn concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by GCN president, Kezhangulie Kire.
Notable speakers included Joydeep Das, SBI branch manager of Peren, and additional deputy commissioner of Peren, Keyirangding Hegui. The training would conclude on August 5.
