Dimapur, Dec. 11 (EMN): Indianeers skills academy of Phek Government College was inaugurated by Orenthung Lotha, deputy commissioner (DC), Phek, on December 11.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC lauded the college for establishing the academy and urged the people of the district to avail the free trainings offered by the centre. While expressing his concern about the unemployment problem for the youth in the state, he thanked the college for opening the academy which would provide not only provide free trainings but also 100% job placement in reputed national and multinational companies in the country.
The IT&C centre of the college was also formally inaugurated by the ADC, Phek, Avelu Ruho, at the later part of the programme. The centre would offer free computer class to students and also other services such as online scholarship applications, bill pay recharge, banking services, PAN registration, etc.
On the occasion, the college’s principal Dr. Vizovol Mekro gave a brief introduction about the skill academy and the IT&C centre. The academy would initially offer courses on carpentry, assistant electricians, mushroom growers, floriculturists and tourism & hospitality. A press release issued by assistant professor department of economics, Temjenmeren Jamir, informed that the courses would commence in the later part of January 2019.
The principal also thanked the district administration and the public of Phek area for the strong support and the many help extended to the college.
The programme was chaired by Ms Keviriebeinuo Kehie, assistant professor, department of English, while a folk tune was presented by Hatolu Venuh and Veratalu Rhakho, BA 4th semester.
Delivering the vote of thanks, the college’s vice principal, Besengulie Venuh, highlighted about the 5 Stars rating of the skill academy of the Phek Government College by the Skill Management and Accreditation of Training Centres under the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and National Skill Development Corporation on November 28.
