[dropcap]A[/dropcap]s suspected the skeletal remains believed to be that of two missing cadres of United Revolutionary Front (URF) have been found buried in the outfit’s designated camp today.
URF is on Suspension of Operation (SoO) with the government. The outfit’s designated camp is located inside the camp of the 9th Dogra Regiment D-Coy Loitang Khunou (Spinning Mill) in North Imphal.
On May 6, following the allegations regarding the alleged killing of two cadres of United Revolutionary Front (URF) inside the URF designated camp and reportedly they were later buried inside the camp, a search operation was conducted for the dead bodies by a team of police today.Nearly a month later today, the police carried out again the search operation and found the skeletal remains said to be that of the two URF cadres.
The breakthrough came following the arrest of one of its cadres identified as one Irengbam Gulapi alias Meitei of Kontha Ahallup under Heingang police station this morning from his home by the police. Irengbam Gulapi reveal the detail of the two missing URF cadres during the police interrogation. Later in the afternoon at around 4:30 pm, the police team led by Additional SP (Imphal West district) incharge of Law and Order Mr Birbabu rushed to the URF designated camp and broke the cemented structure inside the store-room of the URF and found the skeletal remains.
It may be recalled here that on March 19, 2014, a complaint was lodged at Sekmai police station by the URF regarding the missing of the two URF cadres.
The two URF cadres who reportedly went missing on March 18 were identified as Irengbam Bode alias Washington (35), son of late Biren of Awang Khunou, Imphal West district and Pukhrambam Somorjit (35), son of Lakshman of Waheng Khuman under Nambol police station, Bishnupur district.
Further, regarding the missing of her Bode, his wife, Sunita who being suspicious of her husband being murdered and buried inside the URF camp had made a complaint to the Sekmai police on April 30 last month to trace the dead body of Bode.
Following the complaint, the Sekmai police had conducted the search operation inside the designated camp after due permission obtained from the Ministry of Home Affairs, the State Home Department and the District Magistrate, Imphal West.
The search operation led by Additional SP (LO) of Imphal East, L. Birbabu and was also joined by SDPO Lamphel, Wungpam Kasar and a team led by Sekmai police Officer In-charge (OC).
Meanwhile, reports said only 15 cadres of the URF were present in the designated this evening while its chairman Kh Gopeshor alias Khelen alias Lanheiba of Keirenphabi under Moirang police station is out of station. The 15 cadres have been detained by the police, said the reports. There were about 60 URF cadres in the camp.
