
Saint John’s School in Diphupar ‘B’ organised the first pets’ day out programme on Saturday in the school premises with Dr. Bocto Sumi, VAS of Veterinary Hospital, Burma Camp, as the chief guest and Rev. Fr. Paul Maippan, principal and director of Don Bosco Training Institute, as the guest of honour.
In his welcome address, the school principal, Johnny Abraham, has briefed on the objective which was aimed at inculcating the value of sympathy, empathy and unconditional love in the mind of students towards all beings.
An update from the school stated that the chief guest has stressed on the importance of giving love and care to animals as human beings do to their families and friends. He also told the students not to buy or purchase any animals, if they are not ready to look after them properly.
The guest of honour stated that animals are more loyal than humans. He encouraged the audience not to end the love for the pets but make a better place for them to live.
Dr. Khrusato, junior veterinary doctor, stated that pets are the best stress busters available. He added that pets could help people when fighting depression and also be the best companion for introverted people.
A variety of pets including dogs, cats, birds, tortoise, guinea pig and rabbits were exhibited. All the students from Grade 3-10 attended the programme.
The event concluded with a pet show where styled animals walked the ramp followed by a photo session. It stated that Shiru (dog) and Hae-wo (cat) were declared as winners of the ramp walk.
Other dignitaries who attended the programme included Imlisen, founder of Noah's Ark, and junior veterinary doctor, Dr. Tshokedu Keyho.
