Dimapur, March 28 (EMN): St. Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Jakhama, hosted a unique programme on March 27 with a team of Soorya organisation. Soorya is the largest cultural organisation of the world with its chapters in 40 countries.

The college’s principal, Rev. Fr. Dr. Sebastian Ousseparampil, who began with a quote from Shakespeare’s ‘Twelfth Night’ “If music be the food of love, play on…,” welcomed the guests to Nagaland- ‘Land of Festivals.’
Speaking on “My culture, my mother (Integration through culture), Sooryakrishnamoorthy stated that there are lots of definitions for ‘culture.’ The best definition according to him is, “Culture is concern for others.” He cited stories and incidents to indicate what culture is about.
He said artistes are people different from doctors, advocates, soldiers and added that artistes are ones who know what is justice and injustice, right and wrong, good and bad, beauty and ugliness. He said people can identify artistes from the way they look at them unlike the former who use tools.
The programme was attended by top officials from the state, representatives from department of Art and Culture, Rattle and Hum Society, other distinguished guests, members from Abiogenesis- band of folk fusion, and the members of the Josephite family.
