Sitharaman calls on Arunachal Pradesh Governor

Itanagar, Nov. 4 (PTI): Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today called on Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra here and discussed wide ranging defence issues with special reference to the state. The governor during the meeting emphasized on expediting the proposed Frontier Road project saying that it would boost the economy of the state, particularly in the border areas. Mishra said the project would strengthen the surveillance of the national borders and promotion in possession of remote land of the state along the border, a Raj Bhavan release said. The governor also stressed on more recruitment rallies to be conducted in the state to facilitate the youth of the frontier state to join the armed forces. The Defence Minister assured to look into the issues raised by the governor and explore ways to address it at the earliest. She presented National Savings Certificates (NSC) to two meritorious students from the weaker economic strata of the society.
